For example, you can bet on two or four different numbers at the same time.

Roulette Betting Explained

Betting in roulette can be done in many different ways. This is partly due to the size of the game board, which contains all kinds of different numbers. You can opt for a single bet on one of the numbers, but there are also combinations to be made. Betting in roulette must of course be done on the basis of a few rules, although fortunately they are quite simple. For example, you can bet when the croupier indicates this and the round is played as soon as everyone has made his or her bet.

Roulette Bets: Square and Cheval – Betting in roulette is of course the easiest when you only use one number. This is called “plaza” use and therefore involves the greatest risk. The payout is 35-1, which means you will actually receive 36x your stake. You can also bet on two numbers that are next to each other. In that case, betting in roulette is called “cheval”. Obviously your chance of winning will be doubled in this way. The payout is 17-1, making it a strategy to win smaller amounts more often.

Roulette Bets: Transversal and Square – To make betting in roulette even more complex, you can choose “transversal” or “square”. The first bet is for three numbers, by placing to the left or right of three chips. It is possible to make it a “transversal simple” by combining this bet with a “cheval”, where you place the chips on the line between two numbers. By choosing the intersection between four numbers, you place a “square”. This way, betting in roulette gives you a better chance, but the payout goes back to 8-1 in the latter variant.

Roulette Bets: Column and Column à Cheval – Betting in roulette on the basis of a “column” provides a great chance of winning. You bet on 12 numbers placed below each other, so there is a good chance that one of your numbers will fall. You can make betting in roulette even more attractive by opting for a “column à cheval”. This way you can bet on 24 numbers at the same time. Of course, the possible payout is getting lower and lower. In the latter case, it goes back to 0.5-1, making it mainly a strategy to win a lot, but collect little money.

Roulette Bets: Chance Simple – Finally, you can bet in roulette using a “chance simple”. You can then bet on red or black, even or odd or the first or last 18 digits. You have almost a 50% chance of winning that way, so there is a good chance that a smile will appear on your face at the end of the round. On the other hand, the payout is also only 1-1. In that respect, betting in roulette is mainly a choice between a low risk with a small payout and a higher risk with a chance of a better profit.

The payout at French Roulette depends on your bet. The less likely that a particular outcome will materialize, the higher your payout will be. In the table below you can read what each bet yields. The Payout column shows the number of times you receive your winnings, and you also get your bet back.
